With just a week before my start date, I guess I subconsciously started to panic. I began to gorge on a bunch of non-vegan treats - daily, throughout the day!! Sure, I eat tons naturally, but I don't eat a few donuts (ie. "more than one") every day for five days in a row, which I did; along with entire bags & boxes of cookies in one or two sittings. So, I think, subconsciously, I was telling myself to eat it all now because I won't be able to have it again ever. And that's totally counter to my intention behind taking the pledge. My main reason is to make dietary choices that are cruelty-free/suffering-free/torture-free. And it's also about having the sense of being able to choose, about having options and about not being restricted to what I feel I have to have or have to do just because I've always had it or done it a certain way. Does that make any sense?
Anyhow, I've continued with that behaviour for the last week and a half through today. So maybe it would be a good idea to recalibrate my starting point.
Oh, but the good news is, I found a bunch of cookie/pastry/frozen treat options that are vegan!! So maybe I can just say I was "engaging in product research."
